Fuzzy Logic Enhanced Speed Control of an Indirect Field Oriented Induction Machine Drive

Field orientation control (FOC) of induction machines has permitted fast transient response b y decoupled torque and f lux control. However, f ie ld oraentation detuning caused by parameter variations is a major dificulty for indirect FOC methods. Traditional P ID controlkrs have trouble meeting a wade ranye of tracking performance even when proper field orientation i s achieved. P I D performance is severely degraded when detuning OCCUTS. This paper presents a Fuzzy Logic design approach that wall meet the speed tracking repiremeats even when detun-ing occurs. Expe~imental results obtained via a general purpose D S P system is presented along with computer simulations.
